Job Description Reporting to the Assistant Director of Outreach and Retention, the Bilingual Multicultural Outreach Specialist will provide student recruitment and outreach services in both English and Spanish to prospective students. This position's focus will be on building community networks by attending community events, engaging with community members, partnering with campus departments for recruitment events in order to increase access and equity for enrollment at Centralia College. Assisting students through the admissions and intake process will be an additional responsibility for this position. Specific populations this position will be focused on Latinx community members without a college certificate or degree and other traditionally underrepresented populations. This is a full time, exempt position with activities at Centralia College, as well as participation at college, K-12 and community events. This position requires occasionally working evenings, weekends, and split schedules throughout the year. Travel is required. This position also requires multilingual skills in English and Spanish, including ability to read, write, and speak in Spanish at advanced/fluent speaker and writing levels. Duties and Responsibilities Attend college, community, career and industry fairs and other community outreach events as a Centralia College representative. Lead Welcome Desk operations for positive student and customer service experiences such as tours, Student IDS. Develop and establish relationships with community members and attend meetings and events that may be attended by prospective students and/or their families; Promote and market Centralia College programs to community partners in English and Spanish; Regularly communicate with and visit community sites to cultivate non-traditional recruitment pathways; Work closely with community partners to enhance communication and recruitment activities, and promote access for students; Work closely with AD and other departments for translating documents. Work cooperatively with partner agencies, community organizations, institutions, councils and businesses to recruit students, facilitate student referrals and enrollment, and develop processes to facilitate communication and student success; Work closely with Financial Aid, Navigators, and Enrollment Services to ensure appropriate referrals and coordinated support of entering students. Outreach and Admissions: Coordinate community outreach efforts and recruitment of students, including Latinx, non-traditional students and underrepresented populations; Act as a first point of contact to facilitate the recruitment and enrollment of students; providing customer service and college information in both English and Spanish; Coordinate community education events focused on targeted populations, provided in English and Spanish (examples may include college information sessions, academic program information sessions, or hosting campus events for a specific group of students.) Work with the Financial Aid Department to aid with student assistance. Communications and Marketing: In collaboration with the Director of Recruitment and Dual Credit Programs and the Marketing team, review, translate and update recruitment marketing campaigns including website, view piece, and other marketing materials to provide engaging, accurate, clear and interesting content to potential students in both English and Spanish Utilize a Customer Relations Management (CRM) system using a mix of personalization and multi-channel communication options in both English and Spanish, including e-mail, SMS text, chat, social media, and event management; Assist in the development of information collection relevant to this population, this may include form development, report development, and building recruitment outreach campaigns for prospects and inquiries in both English and Spanish; Participate in targeted marketing campaigns and lead generation activities. Front Desk Managing and maintaining a positive Welcome Center setting by ensuring all students and visitors entering and exiting the center receive the highest qualities of customer service Assist students with signing in and out on all campus platforms Answer questions, provide support, and refer students appropriately Monitor and assist with the Virtual Station for additional access Issue Student ID's Maintain a clean environment within the center. Assist with screening and hiring part-time front service desk workers Assist with scheduling part time front desk workers Connect students with Blazer Central and campus departments for additional assistance Attend scheduled training courses Collaborate with Student Services team to deliver an exemplary student experience Assist the Student Services team with arrival, registration and orientation of students Assist with collection and maintenance of data log, Manage database of walk-in inquiries Manage student requests (student ID, academic confirmation, etc.) Provide general information about Centralia College to prospective applicants Other duties as assigned Qualifications Bachelor's Degree, equivalent education or higher OR minimum of two (2) years of experience working with students in higher education or social service delivery setting OR equivalent combination of education and experience; Experience in sales or marketing or facilitating or teaching workshops, seminars and/or presentations; Experience working with diverse populations; Multilingual in English and Spanish, including ability to read, write, and speak in Spanish at an advanced/fluent speaker level. Preferred Qualifications At least two (2) years of experience in providing coordination of events or in student recruitment; Experience in professional, technical student guidance, career guidance, financial aid, educational planning and/or admissions in a technical, community or other college setting; Experience in developing marketing materials and electronic email or social media campaigns; Demonstrated event coordination experience; Experience working with diverse populations of students, clients, and community and business partnerships in an educational setting; Experience creating partnerships or acting as a liaison for an organization. Conditions of Employment This is a twelve (12) month per year, full-time professional technical overtime eligible exempt position. The salary is $48,000 - $50,000 (DOQ/DOE) annually depending on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. The state of Washington provides a comprehensive benefits package for state employees. The position may participate in the TIAA/CREF retirement system.
