Summary

Gain practical work experience through managing the operations of the Student Recreation Center (SRC) Welcome Desk. Know all policies and procedures of the student employee manual and make decisions based on previous experience and the general philosophy and mission of Recreation and Wellness. Oversee the Welcome Desk student staff.

Essential Functions
  • Demonstrate mastery of all duties defined at the SRC Customer Service Attendant and Manager level.
  • Represent professional staff in their absence.
  • Act as liaison between professional staff and student employees.
  • Monitor student employees and report on their performance.
  • Able to troubleshoot facility software and office equipment.
  • Create and maintain a working schedule for Customer Service employees.
  • Serve an active role in student disciplinary meetings.
  • Act as first contact person when problems arise with customer service staff members (no shows, equipment issues, paperwork errors, etc.).
  • Conduct weekly maintenance on lost and found items, notifying the proper staff when items need to be taken to Goodwill, BG1 office, or Police Department.
  • Maintain Welcome Desk supplies and copies.
  • Keep Welcome Desk neat and orderly.
  • Meet with Graduate Assistant and area supervisor as needed.
  • Conduct staff meetings and assist with staff performance audits.
  • Serve an integral role in the student hiring and training process with facility supervisor and Graduate Assistant.
  • Work special events during and outside of standard operating hours.
  • Assist with locker clean-outs.
  • Work at least two scheduled CSA shifts each week.
  • Fulfill scheduled office hours.
  • Send out updates to staff as needed.
  • Keep Welcome Desk Resources up to date (i.e. share drive, C2C, etc.).
  • Conduct promotion process of Customer Service Attendants.
  • Represent functional unit/area on the Student Employee Board.
  • Retain confidential material.
  • Attend all Student Employee Board meetings.
  • Conduct monthly maintenance check of sports equipment.
  • Perform functions of other employees in their absence.
  • Make recommendations for Welcome Desk procedures.
  • Optional attendance at SRC Staff Meetings and Departmental Meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
  • All qualifications required by Attendant and Managerial level staff.
  • Proven superior level of interpersonal skills.
  • Regularly lift 20-50 pounds.
  • Willingness to relocate a variety of fitness equipment.
